Habitat for Humanity 3 @ Hoskins Square [ Design ]

Project Name: 20C Hoskins Square
Location: Brampton, Ontario, Canada
Typology: Housing
Size: 1200 sq.ft
Date: 2013
Project Team: Jay S. Lim (Project Lead), Steven Schumann, Timothy Stanley

The third house at the Habitat for Humanity site was nicknamed the 'Square-Square' due to the geometry of the footprint and the name of the street on which it is located. The goal was to create a three-bedroom house, with minimum construction to be efficient with resources and facilitate construction by volunteers.

The square footprint was extruded to develop the basic mass. Surfaces of the house were then pushed to create needed bedroom space as well as provide a canopy for the main entry. In addition to facilitating construction, the shed roof also provides a loft space for a future den for the growing family.
